Public Speaking, con Cultura: The Fundamentals of Cultural Communications

¡Latina, Presente! is your Public Speaking Workshop Series. It's meant to help you reconnect & love the art of public speaking, AND cultivate a deeper understanding of how to grow your public speaking skills, con cultura. Every lesson celebrates our lived experiences, traditions, and cultural ties to the art of public speaking, while providing you the information, techniques, and practices you need to authentically take that mic and stage. 

The month: Public Speaking, con Cultura: The Fundamentals of Cultural Communications

You've likely heard me say that across all platforms we do public speaking, con cultura. What does that actually mean? Join this workshop with Guest Host, Melissa Aguilera, Assistant Professor of Speech Communication at El Paso Community College, to break it down for us. 

Profesora Aguilera's role is to teach courses on effective communication, cultural communication, rhetoric, and interpersonal communication, as well as campus and college activities to support the discipline and the community it educates. During this workshop she'll cover: 

• Interpersonal communication skills to build rapport with your audience during public speaking engagements
• Prioritizing cultural sensitivity in public speaking and adapting to diverse cultural norms
• Choosing language thoughtfully during public speaking to evoke the desired emotions and convey a powerful message
• Tapping into our cultura to connect authentically with diverse audiences

While each workshop in this series is designed to build on the other, you have complete agency in choosing the sessions that you can attend. They will all be just as informative & worth your time.
