About the event

¡Latina, Presente! is your Public Speaking Workshop Series. It's meant to help you reconnect & love the art of public speaking, AND cultivate a deeper understanding of how to grow your public speaking skills, con cultura. Every lesson celebrates our lived experiences, traditions, and cultural ties to the art of public speaking, while providing you the information, techniques, and practices you need to authentically take that mic and stage.

This month: Story-telling Like our Abuelitas: Strategies for Story-telling on Stage

Our culturas remain so strong within us because of the stories that our elders tell us. The conversations, the early mornings & late nights over a cup of cafecito de olla. The art of public speaking is something we grow up with and it helps us hold on to the beautiful parts of our families & cultures. While our abuelitas stories are not in textbooks or her methods of communication aren’t often studied or praised in the art of public speaking,  they live within us and the power with which they were told, is a direct connection to our own power as public speakers.

In this workshop, we’re channeling our abuelitas form of story-telling to inform how we tell our story. We’ll explore story-telling techniques, structure, and give you an outline to tell your story (stories), con poder y cultura.

Note about our event: Access to public speaking education is incredibly important to me and it's how !Latina, Presente! was born. While each workshop is designed to build on the other, you have complete agency in choosing the sessions that you can attend. They will all be just as informative & worth your time.
